When you trim down, Crackdown is built on “play” the most fundamental principle. As we all discovered in Pro Skater Tony Hawk 1 and 2 or Super Mario 64, Crackdown allows players to completely lose, time and priorities, hunger, and bodily discharges functions, even ignoring the natural disasters . Once you start up, the pace of the game – to collect orbs, jump higher and wield weapons more powerful – you suck and leave you wanting more. It is called Crackdown for a reason.
It is simple and straightforward, really. The repression of Realtime Worlds is a third person perspective action game set in a fictional place called Pacific City, a sandbox style environment consists of three islands. In a brief provided by the narrator, a man who sounds like a game show host, you learn the world is not safe. Local governments are weakened and powerful weapon and drug gangs rich have spread worldwide. In Pacific City, three of them are the law: Los Muertos, the Volk, and Shai-Gen. You start as a rookie agent of the Agency in Pacific City. The Agency is the global police union as it was, came together to create a powerful alliance of peacekeepers. He took dubious ethical actions to use the biogenetic engineering to increase the superhuman powers of the Agents, and is fully integrated human cloning. If you die, you’ll do regularly, a clone will replace you. That simple.
While the action Crackdown door, unfortunately the story could not carry a bundle of sticks. The characters you choose to start with are totally interchangeable, which clearly proves the end, and the absence of an identifiable central character leaves a void. The story works only to open it wider hole. It exists only in the most basic form, merge action into a coherent whole. Let’s just say you would not buy this game for the exciting story and compelling characters. You buy to become a blind slave drooling in orb collection. And be very happy to do so.
